Looking at e-learing from a different angle

Math is hard? Not with our Algebra and Geometry e-learning course. Thanks to interactive videos, smart flash cards, and step-by-step exercises, you'll discover that theory can be surprisingly fun.

Mathematics remains a hard subject for many. It feels too abstract, too difficult, too far removed from their world… This often makes learning difficult. In our e-learning courses Algebra and Geometry, developed in collaboration with the VDAB, we address these issues. With a clever mix of theory, engaging examples, and interactive exercises, we guide students through the fundamentals of algebra and geometry.

Why do I need to know this?

Did you know that for centuries, sailors determined their position by measuring the angle between the sun and the horizon, and you use trigonometry every time you search for a song with Shazam? Math is everywhere, you just don't always see it. In this e-learning course, we illustrate that fact with short animated videos: lighthearted, relatable, and engaging. Each module begins with a video introducing the theme. Followed by an explanation of the topic, a connection to everyday life, or some interesting facts. This way, we activate prior knowledge, making the learning material less dull and much more relevant.

Math isn't always "fun" and that's fine

Okay, there's not always a spectacular application or an interesting factoid. And forced "realistic" examples often backfire. (Seriously, why would you buy 173 watermelons?)
Instead of trying to entertain, we focus on why the topic is important:

  • Why do mathematicians find this interesting?
  • What makes this method more efficiaent?
  • How does this help you calculate faster or smarter?

This method is much more motivating.

I see the light!

These e-learning courses offer plenty of visual support. Clear instructional videos make abstract concepts like the Pythagorean theorem easier to understand. Moreover, our instructional and visual designers developed the videos with meticulous attention to detail. And the great thing about e-learning is that you can rewatch them as often as you like.

What was that formula again?

Suppose you're doing an exercise on the Pythagorean theorem and you're not sure you remember the formula correctly. Clicking all the way back to the beginning of the e-learning course would be tedious. That's why we developed memory cards: clear summaries with the key information about each topic. You can open them at any time during the module. That saves a lot of time and frustration!

If 1 + 1 is 2, then what is (16² - 7)³?

One of the challenges in this project was to ensure a smooth transition from theory to exercises. Therefore, we're working with increasing difficulty levels. Furthermore, the assignments not only become more complex in terms of content, but we also gradually reduce the support provided. Curious about our Algebra and Geometry e-learning courses?
